UBC designated as primary international academic partner of Chongqing, China

December 21, 2012

I’m pleased to report a successful official visit to Chongqing, China (population 32 million). This eventful trip to the city helped to solidify future partnerships and collaboration between the city of Chongqing and UBC, in particular Chongqing Medical University, Children’s Hospital of Chongqing, and the Chongqing Bureau of Human Resources and Social Security.

During our meeting the Vice Mayor of Chongqing, Mr. Gang Wu, announced the establishment of a special fund that will support collaborations between medical and higher educational institutions in Chongqing and UBC. The Vice Mayor announced that the university would be designated as the city of Chongqing’s primary international academic partner.
