Refreshing our strategic plan in 2024/25
As UBC passes the halfway point on its strategic plan, Shaping UBC’s Next Century, the time is right for us to revisit it and define the university’s priorities for the next three to five years. A process involving broad community consultations will be announced in the fall.
Dr. Melanie Stewart appointed UBC’s new Vice-President, External Relations
I am pleased to announce that Dr. Melanie Stewart has been appointed as UBC’s new Vice-President, External Relations, effective September 1, 2024.

Op-ed: How UBC is Fighting Climate Change
Last year, Canada experienced its most devastating wildfire season in recorded history, both in terms of carbon emissions and area burned. Our community experienced that firsthand when wildfires forced the sudden evacuation of the University of British Columbia‘s beautiful Okanagan campus last summer. Already, this year is predicted to be at least equally dire.
