Welcome Back to the Blue & Goldcast!

September 14, 2020

I’m delighted to let you know that the Blue and Goldcast, my regular podcast series where I sit down with students, faculty and staff to discuss a wide range of topics, has resumed after taking a short break.

We’ve recorded several new episodes, which will be released over the next few months (we’ll be recording more shortly). You can subscribe on iTunes or on Soundcloud or you can listen directly on my website at president.ubc.ca/podcast/. It’s also broadcast on CiTR Radio (check their website for broadcast times).

You can also find links there to the nine shows in our first season, with discussions on sports concussions, sustainability, Generation Squeeze, mental health, indigeneity at UBC and more.

The upcoming podcasts will cover an equally wide range of topics, including systemic racism, how UBC can continue as a climate leader, and equity, inclusion and diversity at the UBC Okanagan campus.

In the first episode of the new season, I talk with Dr. Sheryl Lightfoot about UBC’s new Indigenous Strategic Plan and UBC’s commitment to decolonizing its campuses, pedagogy and structures. Sheryl is not only my senior advisor on Indigenous Affairs, she – along with Dr. Margaret Moss – was one of the main architects of the plan. Give it a listen here.
