Statement on Tragic Events in Beirut

August 6, 2020

On behalf of the UBC community, I wish to express my condolences to the families and friends of the victims of the tragic events that took place in Beirut, and I wish a speedy and complete recovery to all those who were injured.

My thoughts are also with the members of UBC’s Lebanese community. Please know that we are here to support you. International students can get assistance by calling into the Zoom lobby of International Student Advising or emailing isa@students.ubc.ca. Staff at Student Health Services are also available to help, as are the multilingual counselors available 24/7 through Empower Me.

Other support is also available to members of the UBC community.
