The University of British Columbia is proud to honour UBC alumnus Colin Pritchard for his commitment to advancing health care education and research, and improving quality of life in BC.
Colin received a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1962 and law degree in 1963. He was called to the bar the following year and developed a successful solicitors’ practice in addition to launching several agricultural ventures.
Through The Colin & Lois Pritchard Foundation, founded in 2007, he has generously supported numerous community organizations and served as a tireless advocate for UBC Okanagan. The foundation has funded student trainees, clinical research, patient simulation technology and experiential learning in the university’s Southern Medical Program. The Foundation’s most recent gift in support of nursing and medical students and clinical research in partnership with Interior Health will benefit countless undergraduate and graduate students, while attracting the next generation of health professionals to the region. Colin was recognized for his leadership, volunteerism and philanthropy, in 2021, as the first recipient of UBC Okanagan’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal’s Alumni Builder Award. His significant contributions to learning, teaching and research will help transform health-care delivery in the southern interior for years to come.
